Two Wheels to Nowhere - Episode 2

From Aengus Anderson | Part of the Two Wheels to Nowhere series | 33:11

From Kanab, Utah to Portland, Oregon. Two Wheels to Nowhere is a seven-part series that weaves together the story of one man's motorcycle journey around the United States with the voices of people he met along the way. It is a conversation about people's greatest sources of excitement and concern—a conversation that ultimately explores how different Americans face the unknown.

Ep1_small This is a story of America told through snapshots of excitement and fear. Over the course of three months, Aengus Anderson rode his motorcycle around the United States and asked 166 random Americans the same two questions: what is the most exciting thing in your life? What is the most concerning thing? From beauty shop owners in Cairo, IL to contractors in rural South Carolina, a common theme emerged, one that spanned a cultural divide. From the left to the right, Americans expressed an uncomfortable feeling that something fundamental was off balance. Some worried about an environmental collapse, others a spiritual one, but their underlying disquiet was the same.

Two Wheels to Nowhere is a mix of interviews with a first-person travel narrative, a story that winds its way across American landscapes, both physical and cultural. It explores ideas through counterpoint and finds common ground in unlikely places. It is a story of choices, changes, and facing the unknown.

On Being Thankful - for Cancer & for a Cat

From Paul Messing | Part of the For Kindred Spirits (and separate elements) series | 04:39

Two beautiful Thanksgiving stories from NY Times Bestseller Susan Chernak McElroy 4:39

Pinecone_small Cancer survivor and NY tImes bestselling author Susan Chernak McElroy recounts two related tales of giving thanks - one from her cancer recovery, and the other a story from her book "Animals as Teachers and Healers," about a woman, changing circumstances, and her beloved cat Sammy. A handy and beautiful filler for this time of year. This is a lifted excerpt from my complete pilot "For Kindred Spirits," also available on PRX.
