Fight the Bush presents a string of chest thumping clips from President Bush. Each of these are presented out of context but the effects of them strung together with the fight the power music underneath would only resonate with someone who already has strong negative feelings about the President. Frankly there is no way I could ever justify putting this piece on the air because of its strong one-sided point of view. That said it’s very well produced and a creative piece of audio. There’s been a number of such pieces produced over the years and this is a well-done piece of audio production that may find a home on the web but not likely on a major market public radio station.
Maybe it's because I just saw Fahrenheit 9/11 and I'm still reeling from the idiotic statements captured on film of our President, but I liked this piece. Feels like a perfect companion to any movie reviews of Michael Moore's work or just as a release from the day to day grim news topics. It's not exactly funny but it has a lightness to it and was fun to listen to. We need more commentary that isn't about people telling us their thoughts but about using the sound and the sound bytes all around us to make us think and draw our own conclusions.
This feels like a cheap shot or several of them, but it couldn't be more stunning. The music is so wrong it's perfect, the clips so bizzare I was convinced they were lines delivered on Comedy Central. The lack of comment makes total sense. As Buchwald said, let the politicians hang themselves.
Of course, he ddn't say that. He said, why make anything up down here in Washington D.C.? All you have to do is record things correctly and the pols will keep you in stithces, anyway.
It would be unfortunate for someone to put this item under the category of humor. It should be listed as tragedy. All the more sickening because it taunts our intelligence with the possiblity that someone like this could end up on the Oval Office.
Oh yeah, it's more than a possiblity. That's too bad.
This would probably work on a community station that isn't taking government funding.
A touch long and repetitive, reflecting more the structure of the song underneath than the producer's message. Judicious removal of a verse or two wouldn't hurt.
