Swinging with the Big Bands has been a popular staple on Las Vegas' KUNV-FM classic jazz schedule since its debut in 2007. The program is unique among big band jazz shows in that each weekly 58-minute episode has a distinct theme linking all of the week's musical selections. The focus is always on the music, with voice tracks averaging six minutes per show.

Program categories include:

-Profiles of big band jazz composers and arrangers.

-Special-interest episodes and series, such as The Birdland Story, Masters of Tin Pan Alley, Great Moments in the History of Big Band Jazz and Small Group Leaders in Big Band Settings.

-Change-of-pace episodes and series, such as Big Bands Play the Beatles, They Made a Big Band Chart Out of That?, Big Bands Go to the Movies and It's About Time Signatures.

-Calendar-based episodes and series, including a Valentine to the Women of Big Band Jazz each February: When Big Bands Go Latin, during Cinco De Mayo week; Big Band Americana, a tribute to the troops, during Memorial Day week; the Big Band World Tour each September, featuring top foreign bands; a Big Band Christmas each December; and the Big Band Year in Review, the last show each year.

-New Music weeks interspersed in the schedule to keep fans up to date on the latest CD releases in the genre.
