What inspired the band to perform "The Surf Jam" and a killer version of "Bohemian Rhapsody."  You will hear the greatest stories from the road and laugh for the next hour of a very initimate interview with a hard working touring band.

Saving the Future Before it is too late. . .

Own2lvo2cipgstqhcy22t7jkuf3-thuwvt0ned5zf7o_small

One More Generation (OMG) was founded in 2009 by 8 year old Carter and 7 year old Olivia. Carter and his Sister Olivia are both extremely passionate about animals and conservation. Following the adoption of Cheetahs in South Africa, Carter and Olivia began to question why humans would need to adopt wild animals like the cheetah. Carter and Olivia soon learned of the pressing issues surrounding endangered species, and knew they had to act.

Carter and Olivia started their own nonprofit in an effort to help educate children and adults about the plight of endangered species. Carter and Olivia’s intention is to preserve all species for at least One More Generation… and beyond.

Apartment Farming has Arrived! Hydro Grow's Founder Scott Massey

From WCWP | Part of the Taking Care of Business with Richard Solomon series | 53:00

Imagine growing fresh fruit and vegetables in your RV, Apartment or Home - organic and relatively easy to do.

8124f0_f3b67776e8ed43cea833b7de55eb0519_mv2_small Although the United States is one of the most efficient countries in the world in agriculture, it has an astounding resource cost; 10% of the nation’s total energy budget, 50% of its land, and 80% of all U.S. freshwater consumption. This cost comes with little benefit, as most produce is often times a week old by the time it is on display in a grocery store causing Americans to throw away 40% of all produce they buy. Hydro Grow's patent pending design solves this dilemma by growing organic plants two to three times faster than traditional farming methods within a user's home. This means that the three months a farmer would spend growing a head of spinach could be achieved in three weeks consistently, throughout the year using 95% less water. This would add an additional week of shelf life to the produce by growing it locally within the user's home. The user could leave the crops alive in the system until the moment they want to eat it, ensuring maximum freshness.

Why doesn't my medical insurance cover this? TCBRADIO investigates

From WCWP | Part of the Taking Care of Business with Richard Solomon series | 53:00

You have medical insurance. Each month you submit your rather large premium payments, and when it's time to actually use the insurance for a medical procedure, test, or specialized exam, the insurance company issues a denial - in the case of Nate, a teen living in Arizona, the denial is based on the assertion that the surgery is "experimental."

Img_5644_small Nate suffers from spinal curvature.  In his case it is extreme.  The traditional surgery is to fuse the spine and render the patient completely straight and inflexible without any chance of reversal.  Mount Sinai Hospital in New York is willing to perform a surgery that will allow the spine to be straightened yet will be flexible and allow for growth. This surgery is not new - it's ten years in progress, but the insurance company is only willing to cover the older and less effective surgery.

You will hear our panel of experts. Rick, an attorney, Joanne, a former advocate for insureds, and Nate's parents-Jason and Emily.

While fighting the insurance company,  the family created a go fund me appeal to the public.

     https://www.gofundme.com/nates-surgery

Their appeal states:

We are trying hard to raise the needed funds for a critical spinal surgery for this 14 year old boy by mid January.  Nate has severe scoliosis and needs corrective surgery as soon as possible, according to the doctors he has seen. The longer the surgery is delayed, the less chance he has of a successful outcome.  Nate is a fantastic young teenager, with a heart of gold.  He loves football and hopes with all his heart that he can play sports next year when he begins his first year of high school.  The uninsured portion of this surgery is $80,000.

We are praying that your heart will be moved to help Nate get his surgery and have a healthy future.

Thank you in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Joanne -- Nate's Grandmother

What can you do?  Please call your elected officials and complain bitterly (and often) that insurance denials should be more limited and that health is paramount and that newer procedures are not necessarily "experimental."

In the long run, better procedures will improve lives and save money for the insurance company.  Please help to spot light this important issue.

WE WISH NATE GOOD LUCK!
