Series produced by WMNR

Arthur Fiedler

A quartet of 59 minute programs featuring one of the most famous American conductors and Orchestras of all produced by former BSO Broadcast Producer Brian Bell.

He was described by one of his record labels as the best selling conductor in history. And if one includes his days as a member of the Boston Symphony, Arthur Fiedler's recording career remains the longest of all time, beginning with acoustic recordings in 1917 all the way past the first digital recording of an American orchestra in 1977, over 60 years. The Arthur Fiedler Sampler will have a full measure of the classic Boston Pops recordings, but also jaw-dropping renditions when the 40 year old was cutting the first Pops 78s, many of which have never been reissued, and out of print for over half a century.

Each program will be self-contained, and can be aired in any order.

Though classical music is sometimes described as "serious", there are examples that belies this notion. This program has a healthy serving of them.
