Historic Spanish Point is located in Osprey, Florida. It is a 30 acre outdoor museum devoted to the preservation and interpretation of the history and traditions significant to our regions past. Historic Spanish Point was the home of ancient prehistoric Native Americans who left behind archaeological features including shell mounds or middens and ancient burial mounds. After the Civil War, Historic Spanish Point became a pioneer homestead, where the Webb Family grew citrus crops and started one of the first Florida resorts for winter guests. Later, Bertha Palmer of Chicago bought the property from the Webbs and turned it into her estate where she hosted family, guests and business partners. Historic Spanish point is owned and operated by Gulf Coast Heritage Association, Inc. Hide full description
